The Monday after Easter, the youth of Pines City Baptist Church headed to Kayapa Proper, Nueva Vizcaya for a youth camp, along with adult volunteer workers.
Picture
Several churches from Benguet, Metro-Baguio, and Nueva Vizcaya joined this camp. There were 100+ campers, counselors/facilitators, pastors and kitchen staff.

The theme for the week was “Redeeming the Time.” Ten pastors from several different churches spoke on various topics from God's Word.
Picture
In addition to the study of Scripture, it was also a week of fun games, sports, music, and other exciting competitions between four teams: Benjamin Wolf, Judah Lion, Naphtali Stag, and Simeon Ox.

Young people were challenged to make the best use of their time by living for Jesus. By God's grace, several teens made a profession of faith in Christ and many teenagers made decisions to live for Jesus.

Thanks to all who served and participated!

Pines City Baptist Bible College held its graduation ceremony on April 1, 2015, together with the Recognition Day and Graduation of Pines City Baptist Academy. The theme for this year’s commencement was “Changed by the Gospel” and Dr. Roberto-Jose Livioco, our guest speaker, delivered the message. We praise God that the change that the Gospel brings was clearly manifested in the lives of many of our students both in the Bible College and in the Academy.

From the Academy, we had 7 graduates from the ABC’s and one graduate from sixth grade.

The Bible College graduated two students.

This Year's PCBBC Graduates

Left: Mr. Glenn Wandag, Bachelor of Theology

Right: Mr. Moises Forto, Jr., Associate in Theology
Mr. Moises Forto, Jr. graduated with an Associate in Theology degree (formerly known as The Graduate in Pastoral Theology degree).

For the first time in the history of PCBBC since its founding in 1961, we had a graduate with a Bachelor of Theology degree. Mr. Glenn Wandag, who is also a member of our faculty, fulfilled all requirements for the BTh degree.

Congratulations to our graduates and thanks to our school year 2014-2015 students for your attendance this year!

It is PCBBC’s desire that the graduates of this institution would (1) know how to prepare expository sermons, (2) know and defend sound Christian theology, and (3) have a biblically-grounded philosophy of local church ministries.

The Associate in Theology degree requires 96 units. The BTh requires 120 units including 9 units of Biblical Greek. In addition to the required number of units, a graduation candidate is obligated to fulfill three requirements:
  1. An expository sermon on a selected passage of Scripture.
  2. A document that includes a detailed doctrinal statement with affirmations and denials and a philosophy of ministry.
  3. An interview/oral exam defending his doctrinal statement and philosophy of ministry.

The Fundamental Bible Conference coming to Metro-Baguio this week, to be hosted by Pines

2/28/2015

THE FUNDAMENTAL BIBLE CONFERENCE IN METRO-BAGUIO is the second regional conference of the FUNDAMENTAL BIBLE CONFERENCE IN METRO-MANILA outside our usual venue.

With so many conflicting voices of so-called "experts" in the field and unrest and anarchy escalating in the local and global scenes, it is glaringly apparent that we are living in perilous times, just as God's Word predicted would happen. It is important that Bible-believing Christians understand that God did not call His people today to save this world from societies' ills. Rather, our Lord Jesus Christ commands His disciples to win the lost one-by-one from this present evil world with His life-transforming, gospel message (Mark 16:15; Gal 1:4). Furthermore, the New Testament local church, divinely designed to be "the pillar and ground of the truth" (1Tim 3:15) is mandated to instruct believers in Biblical truth to equip them on how to live amid a sin-cursed, fallen world while anticipating Christ's imminent return.

Surely, we can never dismiss the urgency of this task as Christian believers. More then ever, the decisions we make on a day-to-day basis should reflect the distinct quality of life expected from a born again child of God. Therefore, we ask you to pray with us, that God would bless in a most unusual way, and use this ministry to bring revival to His people in the local field. We invite you to plan to come and bring your loved ones and friends to be a part of this conference for mutual encouragement and edification. Finally, we challenge you to prepare your heart to readily and lovingly respond to the challenge of God's Word as we continue our earthly sojourn and heed our conference theme: "That ye may approve things that are excellent," Philippians 1:10a.

We are inviting all pastors, church leaders, and anyone interested to attend this 3-day conference. The schedule is as follows:

Seminar 1: 2-3 pm "What Does It Take to Be a Biblicist in Our Choices?" by Pastor Erick Garcia
  • This message will lay down what ought to be the underlying, fundamental basis or authority for belief and behavior - not tradition, not experience, not church, not reason, not research but divine revelation found in God's Word, the Bible.
Seminar 2: 3-4 pm "How Decisions Are Affected If There Are Errors in the Bible" by Mr. Jared Garcia
  • This will address underlying concerns on the Bible's trustworthiness and why orthodox Christianity upholds the doctrine of Biblical inerrancy - that all other bases are flawed and fallible.

      BREAK

Feb 24, Tuesday
Seminar 1: 9-10 am "Man's Interpretation or God's Integrity" by Pastor Gary Jones
  • This will underscore the importance of taking God at His Word, that the meaning of the Scripture is found in the text of Scripture (author's intent - not in the imagination of the reader), and that the proper reading of the Scriptures is an issue of God's integrity, not simply a preference to a particular hermeneutical approach.
Service 2: 1-11 am "EXCELLENCE IN MUSIC" by Dr. Ron White

     BREAK

Seminar 3: 6-7 pm "Are We Settling for Substitutes?" by Dr. Roberto-Jose Livioco

Philippians Series

2/1/2015

Picture
I can't remember when I started, but sometime in 2014 I began preaching through the Book of Philippians. It was a joy and a privilege to learn God's Word together as a body at Pines City Baptist Church. The entire series consists of 20 sermons, but not all were recorded. We started recording the sermons beginning from sermon #8: The Epitome of Humility (Philippians 2:5-11). To those interested, sermons from this series and other sermons from PCBC can be downloaded at www.pinescitybaptistchurch.org or here. Expect our website administrator to add more sermons on the Philippians series in the next few weeks.

"Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death."
(Philippians 3:8-10)

1/22/2015

Here at Pines City Baptist Bible College we are currently in the midst of the module class “Youth Ministry.” Each semester we try to pick a topic of broad interest to be offered as a module class on weeknights and Saturday afternoons for two weeks. These classes are designed to be accessible by working adults and students with daytime classes.
Picture
We are excited to be offering the Youth Ministry class to 30+ students this semester, filling nearly every seat in the classroom!
Picture
Each two-hour session includes lectures by L. Jared Garcia on topics such as “Why We Do What We Do: Theology & Philosophy of Youth Ministry,” “Serious Business for Serious Leaders: Qualities of a Healthy Youth Worker,” “A Message from a Passage: Teaching Teens the Bible,” and “Real Teens: Understanding Youth Culture.” This class features small group discussion each night, giving students a chance to experience the small-group format common in youth ministry settings as well as a chance to engage with the ideas they are being presented with in the lectures. Of course, everyone’s favorite time is coffee break, when we enjoy the fellowship… and the free coffee.

Subscribe to the RSS feed or follow us on Facebook (click icon in top right corner) to receive notifications about upcoming module courses.
